Nissan released their new high performance coupe in december 2007. The GTR (R35) was firstly offered in japan. European customers have to wait till spring 2009. For many car fanatics it’s very important to know, how fast a car can lap the top gear time attack track driven by the STIG. The latest top gear season started this summer and the whole world is waiting for the time attack.
In season 11 episode 04 the top gear team (hammond, clarkson, james) flew over to japan. They tested the nissan gtr against the shinkansen (bulletrain). The starting point was a beach on the west coast of japan. The finish line was a buddha monument 400 miles in the east of japan. Clarkson took a red gtr and hammond and james 3 trains and a cablecar. At the end the gtr won with a lead of two minutes.
In season 11 episode 05 raced clarkson the gtr on fuji speedway. He was really impressed. After a few laps he damaged his neck in a hard corner. Back in england the STIG tested the gtr on the top gear time attack track. The track conditions were good and he made a fabolous time of 1.19.7. That’s one behind the ariel atom, but faster than the lamborghini lp640, porsche carrera gt and other luxurious sports car.
